nicholas & i have been married nearly 2 months... how CRAZY is that?! i think it is somewhat finally starting to sinking in, but there are still plenty of moments where i am wondering... is this real life?
our newlywed life has been filled with many changes...big small, good, hard... the list goes on.
a few months ago we thought we had a pretty good grasp on what at least our immediate future held, and then everything changed. it is never easy to watch something so quickly fall away, but God has been quick to show us His hand in it all, and His plans are always best. so, we're currently just taking a step back to pray and evaluating our dreams and the most strategic way to move forward. we're also both working at jobs we enjoy... thank you Jesus!
along with that, we're adjusting to our new life as Mr. & Mrs
[sidenote - how WEIRD is it to grow up your whole life with one last name, and then it changes?! i'm still having a hard time remembering to write Baker instead of Lawrence, especially in my signature as I have no remembrance of how to write a cursive lower case k. haha...annnyways]
but.. we're doing great!
i feel like i am learning so much, simply by being a wife & by living life alongside Nicholas. i'm realizing that if you let it, marriage can truly serve as a constant sharpening tool. a healthy, loving marriage based on Jesus doesn't give much room at all for self centeredness, grudge holding, withdrawal, etc. living out 1st Corinthians 13:4-7 may not seem easy, but marriage gives you constant opportunities to do so. we're learning that loving 'better' does not lie in striving to do so, but in simply loving our Savior alongside each other, seeing each other as He sees us. when we're filled with Jesus we can't help but love, we can't help but grow in our understanding of Love. apologizing becomes easier when our goal is to Be Love, not to Be Right. i am blessed with the sweetest husband and growing alongside him has been a joy.
in the midst of so many changes, some huge adjustments, and some tough days, there has also been so much joy. it feels like the giddy childhood days of getting to have a sleepover with your best friend, except that it happens every night and my best friend also happens to be my oh so attractive husband :)

we are truly blessed.

Glad you are enjoying married life! God definitely knew what He was doing when He designed marriage - a sharpening tool indeed. Parenting is as well :-) Of course you will learn that first hand before you know it :-)
